Why the panels add up to more than 800W
The two panels add up to 1260W, but the microinverter caps what goes into your home at 799VA (3.5A). That's the limit for plug-in solar, so the kit never sends more than that into your home at any moment.
Panel power above the cap can help the kit reach its limit for more of the day, especially in duller light. In bright sun, the extra is held back by the microinverter. Each panel is 630W.
This kit has more than 960W of panels. The government's product specification says that above 960W, users should consider professional assessment of their electrical installation, so consider a professional check of your electrics before you plug it in.
Before you order
Check each of these before you order. If you can't tick one, ask us first.
- About 5.0m × 1.2m of space that gets the sun.
- Plug straight into a suitable wall socket. No extension leads, cable reels or adaptors.
- Modern RCD protection in your fuse box. If you have an older fuse box, or you're not sure, have an electrician check it first.
- If you rent, own leasehold or live in a managed building, get written permission from your landlord, freeholder or managing agent before you buy.
- Tell your home insurer before you fit the kit.
- Register the kit free at myplugin.solar before you first use it.
- One kit per household. Plug-in kits must not be used with a home battery.
- A wall, flat-roof or raised install needs a professional assessment first (the maker's requirement).
- Over 960W of panels: consider a professional check of your electrics.

Questions about this kit
Do I need my electrics checked for this kit?
It has more than 960W of panels. The government's product specification says that above 960W, users should consider professional assessment of their electrical installation, so we suggest a professional check of your electrics before you plug it in.
How do I move a 96kg box?
With at least two people. Each panel weighs 34kg and is 2.4m long, so plan a clear route from the door to your spot before it arrives.
How do I register my kit?
Register it free at myplugin.solar before you first use it. You'll need your address and the kit's details. Our guide to registering your kit goes through it step by step.
Can I have more than one kit?
No. The grid connection rules allow one plug-in solar kit per household, so we sell one kit per household.
Which plug does it come with?
It has a 4m AC connection cable. It ends in a factory-fitted, fused UK plug that goes straight into a suitable weatherproof outdoor socket, never an extension lead or adaptor. Don't cut the plug off or rewire it.
