Where it can go
This kit sits on its stand on level ground, such as a lawn, patio or gravel area. It's a ground-mount kit only, so it isn't for walls, roofs or balconies. The maker's datasheet says it's not suitable for use on balconies.
Ballast isn't included. The maker's manual says to use dense concrete blocks of at least 18kg each, sitting on the stand's lower plates on both sides: 2 blocks where gusts can top 40mph, 5 above 60mph and 10 above 80mph. Keep cables on top of the blocks, never trapped under them, and keep blocks off the microinverter.
The kit plugs straight into a wall socket within reach of its 4m cable. The maker's datasheet says it's designed for a suitable outdoor socket fitted and certified by a qualified electrician. The maker's checklist asks for a weatherproof outdoor socket (at least IP55) within 4m of the kit. Never use an extension lead or adaptor.
Keep it away from a wall forming a boundary with a neighbouring property. Our plug-in solar rules list every place a kit can't go.
Before you order
Check each of these before you order. If you can't tick one, ask us first.
- About 3.7m × 1.2m of space that gets the sun.
- Plug straight into a suitable wall socket. No extension leads, cable reels or adaptors.
- Modern RCD protection in your fuse box. If you have an older fuse box, or you're not sure, have an electrician check it first.
- If you rent, own leasehold or live in a managed building, get written permission from your landlord, freeholder or managing agent before you buy.
- Tell your home insurer before you fit the kit.
- Register the kit free at myplugin.solar before you first use it.
- One kit per household. Plug-in kits must not be used with a home battery.
Delivery and returns
We deliver to your door in England, Scotland or Wales. The box is 1800 × 1180 × 180mm, 74kg, so plan for two people to move it. We'll confirm the courier and delivery service before ordering opens.
You can cancel at any time before dispatch for a full refund, and for 14 days after delivery. If you change your mind after delivery, you pay to send the kit back unless it's faulty. Keep the box and packing until you're sure you're keeping it.
Our returns and cancellations explain each step, and our delivery information covers how kits arrive.
Questions about this kit
Why is the output 800W if the panels are 890W?
The microinverter caps what goes into your home at 799VA (3.5A), the limit for plug-in solar. The extra panel power can help the kit reach that limit for more of the day, especially in duller light.
How much ballast do I need?
Ballast isn't in the box. The maker's manual asks for dense concrete blocks of at least 18kg: 2 where gusts can top 40mph, 5 above 60mph and 10 above 80mph.
How do I register my kit?
Register it free at myplugin.solar before you first use it. You'll need your address and the kit's details. Our guide to registering your kit goes through it step by step.
Can I have more than one kit?
No. The grid connection rules allow one plug-in solar kit per household, so we sell one kit per household.
Which plug does it come with?
It has a 4m AC connection cable. It ends in a factory-fitted, fused UK plug that goes straight into a suitable weatherproof outdoor socket, never an extension lead or adaptor. Don't cut the plug off or rewire it.
