From the maker's datasheet (September 2026).

Wall or ground mounting

The hybrid stand sets up on level ground or fixes to a wall. On the ground it works like a ground-mount kit. Ballast isn't included. On the ground, the hybrid stand is held with expansion bolts or ballast (such as concrete blocks or piers) on its lower feet. The maker's manual says the ballast must suit your spot and the wind there, and its ground-mount ballast table doesn't apply to the Hybrid Mount. Ask us before you set up and we'll get the maker's figure for your kit. The maker says not to use the kit ballasted until that's confirmed.

The maker requires a professional assessment before any wall, flat-roof or raised install. Book that before you fix anything to your house.

Walls and places a kit can't go

  • balconies (the maker's datasheet says not suitable for use on balconies)
  • a wall forming a boundary between properties, such as one shared with a neighbouring home
  • buildings with timber, ACM, MCM or HPL cladding
  • buildings having external wall remediation
  • fixings with cable ties, rope, straps or tape

In England, a kit on a house wall mustn't stick out beyond the set limits, can't go on a street-facing wall in a conservation area, and isn't allowed on a listed building. In Scotland and Wales, check with your council. Our plug-in solar rules explain more.

Before you order

Check each of these before you order. If you can't tick one, ask us first.

  • About 2.0m × 1.2m of space that gets the sun.
  • Plug straight into a suitable wall socket. No extension leads, cable reels or adaptors.
  • Modern RCD protection in your fuse box. If you have an older fuse box, or you're not sure, have an electrician check it first.
  • If you rent, own leasehold or live in a managed building, get written permission from your landlord, freeholder or managing agent before you buy.
  • Tell your home insurer before you fit the kit.
  • Register the kit free at myplugin.solar before you first use it.
  • One kit per household. Plug-in kits must not be used with a home battery.
  • A wall, flat-roof or raised install needs a professional assessment first (the maker's requirement).

Questions about this kit

Can I fix it to my house wall myself?

The maker requires a professional assessment before any wall, flat-roof or raised install. Have the wall assessed first, and check the wall isn't one of the places a kit can't go.

When will it be dispatched?

The dispatch date shows on the kit once it's on pre-order. Until then, join the kit list and we'll email you when you can order.

How do I register my kit?

Register it free at myplugin.solar before you first use it. You'll need your address and the kit's details. Our guide to registering your kit goes through it step by step.

Can I have more than one kit?

No. The grid connection rules allow one plug-in solar kit per household, so we sell one kit per household.

Which plug does it come with?

It has a 4m AC connection cable. It ends in a factory-fitted, fused UK plug that goes straight into a suitable weatherproof outdoor socket, never an extension lead or adaptor. Don't cut the plug off or rewire it.
